Linux Command Line Printing
Posted on April 6th, 2009 No commentsAlmost anything can be done from the command line. You can listen to music, read email, and install packages. However, some tasks are a little easier to do from a gui, such as printing. However, you eventually come across a situation where you would need to print from the command line. Perhaps you want to make a scheduled printing job of email or social information. Maybe you want to print something off real quick without being forced to open up a word proccessor.
The answer lies in the command line program “lpr.” To print off a file, use:
lpr file.txt
I used these commands to make one page printable tips:
cd ~
mkdir tips
cd tips
nano Tip.txt
lpr Tip.txt
As long as you have a default printer set, you should be good to go!

Posted on April 1st, 2009 No commentsThe Imperial Blog of tech now has its own domain name! Gone is the old blog.joshpatton.net. This new name should last me a long time, as I start to write for this blog more. My hope is to make this site a decent gadget/tech blog.

Josh Patton.net Tweaks
Posted on April 1st, 2009 No commentsI am working on tweaking joshpatton.net . My hope is to eventually better intergrate this blog and the site, but right now I only have a few tweaks done. Here’s a list:
- Better Page URL’s - The pages are now accessed under a nice url /page/ structure, instead of seperate files.
- Better Game URL’s - The games page is due for some improvements. The games page is now a nice url, /game/. I’m going to add more features to the games page.
- “NEWS” - now points to this blog.
- More content! - More content has been added on the home page.

Payback
Posted on April 1st, 2009 No comments
Payback is a new game for the iPod Touch/iPhone. It can be called a GTA clone, but it is worth noting that it is its own game. The game is simple. Walk around with Forward and Backward buttons, and turn with accelerometers. You can get in a car by pressing “Enter Vechiche.” Sounds borring right?
The game is far from borring. The player can get weapons from crates, obtain missions from payphones, and blow up anything you want.

Keep your [Linux] Desktop Clean
Posted on November 9th, 2008 No commentsIf you are an Ubuntu* user, you might not use your home folder like you should. For example, all my downloads go straight to my Desktop, instead of my home(~) folder where they belong. Clutter on your Desktop is quite unsightly, and as one must look at their Desktop constantly, I decided to fix this.

Careful with your keys… Part 2
Posted on June 22nd, 2008 No commentsOk, part 1 mentioned how i got the “H” key off.
I got it back on. Party. Ya-uh.
I had to pop off the plastic X spring that suported it from the actual top. I then slightly bent one of the hooks on the keyboard base, and snaped the X spring back on. Then I reattached the top of the key, snaping it back.
I have “H” !

Posted on June 20th, 2008 No comments
I wanted to watch Live TV on my iPod Touch, but everything I found requires a TV tuner and I don’t have one. After googling and research, I found the magical piece of software required - the TVUPlayer, which lets you watch Live TV Channels on your Computer. “Read More” for Instructions
